L'industria SC Johnson Tops dichiara gli allergeni della pelle superando gli standard normativi e industriali per dare alle famiglie tutta la verità. Questa industria continua la sua leadership sulla trasparenza degli ingredienti divulgando la presenza di 368 potenziali allergeni cutanei che possono essere contenuti nei loro prodotti.
Fisk Johnson, presidente e amministratore delegato ha dichiarato: " Per noi la trasparenza è una questione di principio. Siamo interessati ad aiutare le persone a fare le scelte migliori per le loro famiglie " " Proprio come quando abbiamo iniziato a elencare conservanti, coloranti e profumi, non ci siamo fermati con lo standard industriale. Vogliamo raccontare tutta la verità: questo è solo il prossimo passo che stiamo intraprendendo nel nostro cammino per essere sempre più trasparenti " Hanno aggiunto l'elenco degli allergeni della fragranza e delle materie non profumate nel sito web degli ingredienti, ed entro il 2018, saranno elencati anche gli allergeni della pelle contenuti in un prodotto. Questa nuova iniziativa di trasparenza va oltre i regolamenti nell'Unione europea e anche negli Stati Uniti dove non esistono norme che richiedono trasparenza allergenica.

Per determinare l'elenco completo dei potenziali allergeni cutanei, gli scienziati di SC Johnson hanno analizzato più di 3.000 gruppi di dati provenienti da fonti pubbliche e industriali per potenziali allergeni cutanei identificati negli elenchi normativi nazionali, negli elenchi dei profumi, nel comitato scientifico europeo per la sicurezza dei consumatori, in dermatologia e nei singoli fogli dei dati di sicurezza del fornitore. L'azienda ha poi condiviso le sue conclusioni per la convalida con esperti nei settori della dermatologia, dell'immunotossicologia, della tossicità dei profumi e degli allergeni.

Attualmente, l'industria dei beni di consumo utilizza 3.000 ingredienti di fragranza pubblicati dall'Azienda Internazionale di Profumeria. Tuttavia, nel 2012, SC Johnson ha esaminato gli ingredienti delle fragranze facendo un passo avanti con la creazione della sua gamma di fragranze esclusive che hanno ridotto gli ingredienti di fragranza accettabili da 3.000 a circa 1.300 utilizzati nei prodotti SC Johnson.
